Fishing Reports
Some big ones early! 2024 off to a good start

True Trophy fish of March
Whew! The grind last week was just awesome! WFC guide Kurt is finally coming to an end on his 10 or 12 day run. Jax got some days and I got some days. With some results! Congrats Tony and Guide Kurt on a big fish, 27.25″. In that same week we got several 24″ fish and a 25″ fish today. Some were stripped up on a streamer, some at under the bobber. Either way….some KILLER big fish we are seeing, early this year. What does that mean???? Well, I don’t know, other than you need to get in one of my guides boats and go after you PB. Or just come out and have a good time. We have guides available and the flies that are working! We have April 1 availability on the Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge guide opener also.
We have our fly fishing school set to take off this year. Click here for more information! Basically a 3 day school on private water, maybe a day float fishing. We offer lodging in the package if you need help with a place to stay!
Who’s next????

Snowpack climbing & big fish hitting the net
River Guide operations off and running here at the Wyoming Fishing Company, with some seriously serious fish hitting the net so far! Long time WFC patron and local, Greg with some Wyoming Steelhead action last week.
Our mountain snowpack is climbing and getting better every week. We are now at 91% SWE and 98% total snow. So…not terrible and getting better.

Greg with a dark one
WFC guide Kurt got out and did his first guide day of the year, he got his dude this gorgeous cutty along with some rainbows.

We even got Cyndle in the boat for a day during the snow….she’s still got it! Nice brown stripped up on the streamer!!

Our guided winter fishing trips are $450 for the boat this year. You must bring your own lunch/drinks. Rods and flies guide will have. Meet at the store around 830. We can do single or multiple boats. Our guides are local and ready to show you a good time!

2024 Tightlines & Discounted Winter Float Trips
Spring trips are hitting the books and flies of the WFC guides are getting gobbled by Wyo trout! We got out for our first trip of the season and the classic quality of the mighty Green River Trout showed itself. WFC guides Tristan and Kurt ventured out with myself on a sunny day last week and we enjoyed the day as much as we could. No fish ate the dry fly, but several ate nymphs and streamers. WFC guide Kurt wrote about the experience in his current blog, check it out here at Authentially Wild Out West!

January Cutthroat trout on Wyoming’s Green River
Current weather has us in a storm cycle for another week or so, then making it’s way back into cooler temps. We look to see snowpack gain significant numbers during this time. Currently the Green River Basin is at a 74/83% SWE/Total for snowpack. I’ll bet those numbers increase in the coming 7 days. Time will tell!

Post spawn, streamer eating February Brown

Ice fishing trips continue, river trips around the corner
2024 is off to a great start, with an increased snowpack since late 2023. We still have some improving to do, but it’s looking up and we still have a lot of winter! We will be running ice fishing trips through March.
Our semi annual discounted fishing trips are about to begin, $450 for the full day float (1-2 ppl) below the Fontenelle Dam, our Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge Trips begin on April 1, 2024. Seedskadee Trips aren’t discounted as they are on a different permit and offer a much, much more exclusive experience. Only 4 Outfitters run on the refuge and we are 2 of the 4. These spring fishing trips can harbor large catch rates of pope and young sized whitefish and the famous trophy trout of Fontenelle. These discounted spring special trips have been very popular with our guests and most come back every year. We provide heaters, flies and extra rods on discounted trips. No lunch. Bring a buddy! These spring trips are a great remedy for cabin fever!

Nice Brown caught during discounted spring fishing trips!
We can accommodate multiple boat groups as well, so lets go!
We are currently booking 2024 summer and fall fishing and hunting as well, if you haven’t gotten your dates scheduled, we can help you with that! Cast & Blast Trips also!
We are excited to have LOTS of new access this year on private walk/wade venues that are the best in the area. No competing outfit has the QUALITY of our private water, NONE!!!, we call this the “holy water” & “Dry Fly Nirvana” beats. We do have some areas with fees, but some of the best, private water fishing in the STATE requires no rod fee. Dry fly loving, WILD TROUT! You can’t get any better than that!

I find it hard to guide right now, as the scheduling is turning into quite the chore, good problem to have. Glad we have a strong team of guides here at the Wyo Fish Co to step in and get the job done!

Fall is here! Cast & Blast
Fall is here, we have even seen snow a few times. The boys are keeping busy on the lower river, grinding out the rest of the season until the refuge closes on October 31 to all guided activity. Moss isn’t so bad is the spots that seem to have the fish. Salmon run in the smallest I’ve ever seen it in my 20 years of outfitting in Western Wyoming. We are still getting some nice fish here and there, but you got to want it right now. Our river has never been for the faint of heart and that is certainly the case now, but a fish of lifetime is just as possible as it has always been.
Browns are colored up pretty good and I imagine they’ll start digging in the gravel shortly…so be away of them and let them be. The last 2 years were hell on our fish and it’s important they get a proper spawn in, so ….you know, we can catch the spawned wild ones later. Any anger/guide who fished spawning trout isn’t for the fishery and sure isn’t for the wild fish concept, whether native or not.
We have a little over a week left and have some available days if you want a shot at your Green River Trophy Trout. Once November hits, out REDUCED PRICE full day guided float trips begin at $425 per day. These trips go until March 31, 2023. You must bring your own lunch and drinks. Guide will have flies and rods if needed. Click here for more info about our guided trips

Big rainbow caught on a discounted winter fishing trip with WFC guide
The bird hunts have been doing pretty well as well and we begin to get even busier with those as the fishing slows down in November. If you’re interested in shooting a mixed bag of birds in a great atmosphere, we can get you out there. The birds are coloring up real good and that trophy duck you’ve been looking for is here.
We are looking forward to our Wyoming ice fishing trips this winter, we are permitted in a few different lakes and can get you on some well fed and often times, trophy cutthroat, rainbow, brown and lake trout, along with Kokanee salmon and burbot. We have vexilar fish finders along with livescope, to locate the fish from your heated ice hut.
Wyoming Game and Fish requires a fishing license for both resident and non residents. Conservation stamp is NOT needed if you are buying a daily license.
Our guide Kurt is building some pretty slick custom rods this winter, feel free to check out his page at Laughing Bear Outfitters and see if you can get an order in, I believe he is sold out this winter as far as custom rods, but you can always get on the schedule for next year!
Fall Fishing & Hunting in Wyoming
Leaves have begun to change colors and nights are getting cooler. We are about to start the last push of fall work until snow begins to fly. Fish are still eating hoppers, but there’s a hint of cold that’s bringing things closer to spawning trout It’s raining now and has been the theme this year. So I reckon, a wet, raw…you gotta want it kinda fall is coming down the pipe. Some large, colored up fish come along with it. Whether it’s salmon or trout, both are running and colored up.
Moss isn’t so bad this year and the river cooling would make one believe we are in for some clearer fishing conditions than in years’ past. We have been seeing single salmon up and down the river as of last week. Lakes are cooling and fish are beginning the final feed! Come, get in on some of the action with one of our local guides!
We have to focus in on during the end of the season:
Old Faithful – Seedskadee National Wildlife guides available – $700 per boat 1-2 ppl

Wyoming Fly Fishing is Heating Up! Summer is Here!
Summer is here and Wyoming fly fishing is heating up!
The wild trout are out and about! After a long, drawn out spring…summer has finally arrived, along with all the good things that come with it. Including premier Wyoming fly fishing! We are finding good fishing and plentiful opportunity up and down the drainage right now. Give us a call, we have available guides ready to show you the best experience money can buy around these parts!
Be sure to visit our guide page to get a feel for the body of experience we have available for you. We offer full and half day float trips on various water throughout the Green River Drainage, and are ready to get you on-board to hunt big fish! Additionally, we offer Walk & Wade packages that cannot be beat, with public water knowledge and private water access. In our private waters we have grown a very healthy population of Rainbow, Brown and Brook Trout. Learn more about our Private Waters here. Don’t forget your fishing license and conservation stamp! They can be purchased at various retailers around the basin or on the WYG&F website by clicking here.
As water levels begin to recede and visibility capitulates to the naked eye, the trout have been taking advantage of the gourmet aquatic eatery as it floats by. They are gorging themselves on bugs and terrestrials with veracity throughout all hours of the day. We are seeing only minor cool down episodes during the peak of the sun’s diurnal arc. As a result, our guides are having much success in linking up with big critters in both shallow and deep waters.
There’s more to learn and more to success to be had. Come fish with the premier fishing group of Western Wyoming.

Spring has sprung (kind of), good fishing
Call to book: (307) 360-3251
We have been on the river for a few weeks now,

Big trout. Pinedale, Wyoming
nice having it to ourselves. I suspect that will change in the coming weeks. Good fishing been had and some great times, with one really nice one. Congrats Cole, on a 25″ 8lb rainbow (pictured). Aside from that big one, we have been getting some nice cuttroat and brown trout, along with the rainbows.
We are still doing the Spring Special, $450 for a guide trip (1-2) anglers. Below Fontenelle Dam or around Pinedale on the Green or New Fork Rivers.
We are currently booking summer fly fishing for 2023 and 2024 around Pinedale, as well as Fontenelle, Wyoming. We are permitted on both the New Fork Rivers, top to bottom. Make sure when you’re closing an outfitter that its a legally permitted and insured outfit. We have alot of fly by night guides coming to Pinedale for a short few weeks. Most/all have zero permitting and probably lack insurance. We have been in business, locally in Sublette County since 2013 and the only full time outfitter producing the best quality of fish and experience.

Snow and cold – 2023
We asked and we are getting it. After 2 years of sub-par winters…we are in luck! Ample snowpack and cold temps to back it up. Even going into March, we are still cold and snowier than what we have been in quite a few years. The rivers are going to get a great flush this year. The entire ecosystem will benefit from what we are dealing with right now.
We are currently booking what’s left in 2023 and onto 2024. Hunts and fishing trips. The Bar OG Fish Camp is officially available to the public. A lot of good things happening here at the WFC, thanks to all of you who support us. We have more private water this year, along with additional permitted areas to fish. Lots of options we have. Lake Charter Fishing as well!
We plan to start fishing in the coming weeks once the cold lets up. We are doing reduced price full day guided float trips below the dam (not refuge) until April 1 at $450 per boat (1-2 anglers)
