Spring trips are hitting the books and flies of the WFC guides are getting gobbled by Wyo trout! We got out for our first trip of the season and the classic quality of the mighty Green River Trout showed itself. WFC guides Tristan and Kurt ventured out with myself on a sunny day last week and we enjoyed the day as much as we could. No fish ate the dry fly, but several ate nymphs and streamers. WFC guide Kurt wrote about the experience in his current blog, check it out here at Authentially Wild Out West!

January Cutthroat trout on Wyoming’s Green River
Current weather has us in a storm cycle for another week or so, then making it’s way back into cooler temps. We look to see snowpack gain significant numbers during this time. Currently the Green River Basin is at a 74/83% SWE/Total for snowpack. I’ll bet those numbers increase in the coming 7 days. Time will tell!

Post spawn, streamer eating February Brown
We are still squeaking out some ice fishing adventures, but the river has been calling within! We are still guiding ice fishing through February and into March, These will be good river fishing months as well.
We are currently offering discounted river float trips below the dam until April 1 for $450 per boat (1-2ppl). Anglers must bring their own lunch and drinks. We are the only outfitter doing these winter floats locally for many years now and we keep doing them because folks keep coming back and it’s a lot of fun! We get some big fish in the spring!!
